Looking to save up for a computer to last me a long time for my following needs:

-Looking to render my photos and videos from my motorcycle adventure/off road/touring trips.

-Needs to be portable

-Powerful and fast enough to render DAZ studio and other software to get my dreams brought to life :)

The reasons I am considering a Mac is because I am getting quite sick of clunky software from Windows and the being a victim of virus attacks, recently notified my Operating Software turns out to be a counterfeit version. After numerous troubleshooting and desperately wanting simplicity, I gave up trying to solve the counterfeit issue. I want something simple, smooth and powerful. An Macbook Pro is pricey but answers my needs.

The reasons I would stay with Windows is because their latest OS is smooth and is customizable, plus familiar. No doubt it could be cheaper than the Apple computers I am considering. Could be even cheaper if I opt to build my own Laptop but I am at best a novice and not handy with tech.

Also what specs do I need to run Daz smoothly on a Windows and Mac?

I think I read you where doing video as well? If so definatly Mac. Though imovie is ok.. FCPX is powerfull and fast. Adobe Premier is expensvie and frankly should be free it's so terrible. They don't use multi cores and only are flirting with GPU acceleration.. So honestly a $1,100 mac book air with FCPX will smoke a $3,000 custom PC with Adobe Premier in virutally everything. HOWEVER if you re just looking for 3d rendering machine I would go PC. get a descent tower. at least an 8 core CPU.. 12 or 16 would be better and a descent AMD Vega 55 or Nvidia card (look at sofware you are using the most and see what support they have which brand of cards) I think Daz was supporting Nvidia better.. If your taling strictly laptops.. both will cost you $1,100-3,500 for anything descent. the PC tower you can expand and change over time. The laptop obivously your stuck with. I left PC world 20 years ago and I flirt with the idea of getting a PC tower for images.. Build a descent one for about $3,000 -$4,000. A similar but better Mac Pro will be $5,900 and of course be a mac. A friend built a $3,500 Hackentosh so he could run windows or Mac OS. What was your budget? if mac (I know far more on mac platoform these days) make sure it's current (no used ones) Thunderbolt 3... as good as video card as you can get... MBP 16" iMac Pro 27" and you are in the $3,300 range. the $1,100 are fine.. but 3d really wants a descent $500-900 video card. something that my 2015 MBP 15" just doesn't have ... old Nvidia..
